Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you;
seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For
every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him
that knocketh it shall be opened.
While reading the promises God has given us here, I stopped
and examined myself. Am I turning to God, asking Him about each matter,
seeking to know His will on each matter? Although we have these
promises from God, our minds can really jump into action and try to come
up with "answers". Before we know it, we're trying to work things out
ourselves instead of turning to God. Such a hard way to go, and dangerous
as well, since we don't know what is truly best for us as God does.
Other promises from God I was reminded of while thinking about this ...
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given
him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth
is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not
that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double
minded man is unstable in all his ways.
God wants us to ask and seek of Him, believing He will
answer us, that we might have the wealth of HIS wisdom, guidance, and
provision as we walk on this earth.
