Jesus said (concerning coming of the Lord) ...But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Mt. 24
It will be "business as usual" ... nothing will seem different nor important.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Mt. 24
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Lk. 21:27
The significant event will be the sky turning dark ... the powers of heaven will be shaken ... Everyone on the face of the earth will know when this happens.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. II Peter 10
There will be a "great noise" as the heavens pass away. Also the heavens will be "on fire".
the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? II Peter 3:12
Before these things happen ... iniquity will abound ... and even the elect would perish except the days be shortened.
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Mt. 24:12
People will be hardened by seeing other people's sins. The sin of others affects us. I get several emails from corrupt "ministers". I have to pray that my heart not be hardened because of their sin. How much more will it be a problem when people in your own families sin and will not turn from their sins? It will take prayer to keep yourself from being hardened because of their repeated sins.
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. Mt. 24
It will be "business as usual" before the sky goes dark ... but the "peace" will be so bad many hearts will be hardened as they see the sin around them, and even the elect would be swept away by seeing the sin others do except the day be shortened. But for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
