This week, I received email from a "pastor" who talked about his passion toward the unsaved. He told of the hardships in getting to the unsaved. There was a river to cross and the land was difficult and he didn't know how he was going to manage to get to them.
I told him that he must recognize that all those chosen by God will be saved even when a human does not manage to reach them to deliver a message.
Consider the apostle Paul. No human delivered the message of Jesus Christ to Paul. God delivered that message to Paul by His Spirit on the road to Damascus where Paul was headed to put those who were following Jesus into bonds.
And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 6And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? Acts 9
The "pastor" who wrote to me is "driven". I believe he is driven by a spirit that is not of God. There are religious spirits that are full of "good works" that are not of God. Paul called these "angels of light" and said they are from Satan.
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. II Cor. 11
In the end times, Jesus tells us many will come in HIS name saying HE is the Christ and they will deceive many. Mt. 24
Jesus said ... Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. 15Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Mt. 23
