That word "preserve" means to keep us from ruin and to keep us for future use.
Sometimes God preserves us by causing men to think less of us ... by reducing our reputation among men. I've had this happen twice that I know of. God has given me a message that the masses of church people despised. By reducing my reputation, I see now that God was keeping me safe. Had I continued being "popular" I could have been swept away as I see other ministers being swept away today in their "fame".
Pam worked at Fed Ex. At one point she was given the option to work
directly for officers of the corporation and keep the job level she was
at, or be
demoted to a lower job level. She prayed and considered this and chose
to be demoted.
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
