Preserved by God

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.  II Samuel 8:6

That word "preserve" means to keep us from ruin and to keep us for future use.

Sometimes God preserves us by causing men to think less of us ... by reducing our reputation among men.  I've had this happen twice that I know of.  God has given me a message that the masses of church people despised.  By reducing my reputation, I see now that God was keeping me safe.  Had I continued being "popular" I could have been swept away as I see other ministers being swept away today in their "fame".

Pam worked at Fed Ex.  At one point she was given the option to work directly for officers of the corporation and keep the job level she was at, or be demoted to a lower job level.  She prayed and considered this and chose to be demoted.

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I Tim. 6

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?  Mt. 16:26
