13 And he (Eglon) gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.
14 So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
15 But when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded:and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.
16 But Ehud made him a dagger (for himself) which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.
17 And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab:and Eglon was a very fat man. 18 And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present. 19 But he (Ehud) himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king:who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.
20 And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat. 21 And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:22 And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.

28 And he (Ehud) said unto them, Follow after me:for the Lord hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.
29 And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.
30 So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years. (80 years)
31 And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad:and he also delivered Israel.

How does the church today allow the world to overcome them?
Mostly the church is overcome by taking in false doctrine and setting this up in place of true doctrine. The church is also overcome by taken in strangers into the congregation and accepting them as the church when they do not have the Spirit of God. Thus the leven of those without the Spirit of God works it's way through the congregation where words to correct sin are modified or eliminated in order to approve the congregation in sin.
Substitute doctrines twist scriptures such as follows:
Jn. 8 ... 1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned:but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last:and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee:go, and sin no more.
So they teach to forgive the adulteress and leave out the command of Jesus where HE told this woman, "go, and sin no more ..."
The apostle Paul brought correct doctrine for the NT church as follows:
I Cor. 5 ... 1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. 2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. 3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
When Jimmy Swaggart was caught with the prostitute (can see report in Wikipedia / Internet encyclopedia under Jimmy Swaggart), after Swaggart was caught, he got on TV and did a tear-filled plea telling the church he had sinned.
What did the church do? Did they put Swaggart out of the church? No they said we had to pray for "Brother" Swaggart and they counselled him. This is the wisdom of man and pleases man but it is not even close to that which Paul told the church to do in I Cor. 5.
When this happened, I had visited an Assembly of God group one Wednesday night. The pastor began speaking of "Brother" Swaggart's sin. And pastor said, "We need to pray for brother Swaggart." I was shocked to hear this! In a quiet but slightly audible voice, I said the following where I was seated in the congregation: "We need to put him out of the church."
The woman seated in front of me turned and glared at me with hatred.
I never went back to that church group.
Swaggart was caught a second time with prostitute and he told police officer, "It's flat out none of your business." (Wickipedia report)
How much more shameful can it get? Sin in the ministry itself surfacing in front of the world and causing things of God to be blasphemed by the haters of God in the world.
Recently the pope of Catholic Church made a statement saying he knew nothing as to homosexual acts being against the church. I saw the report on TV and shouted out: What about Romans 1?
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections:for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
How long before the cup of the wicked gets completely filled which will bring judgment on the earth?
All this shows us drawing nearer to judgment.
And we are told to exhort one another, and even more as we see the day approaching (Heb. 10)... thus these writings daily ... as part of the exhortations... truth of scriptures in midst of increasing darkness in both the world and the church groups.
II Tim. 3 ... 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
