John the Baptist went before Jesus to warn them to "prepare" for the coming of the Lord.
The first coming of Jesus was for salvation.
The second coming of Jesus, the next coming, will be for judgment.
II Cor. 5 ... 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;
We are trying to get you ready for the second coming of Jesus.
Mt. 12 ... 33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt:for the tree is known by his fruit. 34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things:and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
The ones who continue in HIS word, doing HIS word, believing in HIS word, standing on HIS word and overcoming the trials and fears of this life through HIS word are the ones following HIM. They who do these things shall never perish.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Romans 11 ... 19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in. 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God:on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness:otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in:for God is able to graff them in again.
With the time remaining, each of us must build our house on the Word of God ... making our decisions based on the Word God would give us on the matter. The Word given us by God is an anchor that we not be swept away by deceit in the last days. We must cling to truth. We must base our doctrine on truth and reject doctrine based on tradition of man without Bible. We must prove all things through prayer and then by scripture. And we must be standing on scripture when we do something for scripture is very solid.
The gates of hell will not stand against that word revealed to us by God. It is upon this revealed Word of God that the church is built and stands.
Mt. 16 ... 13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist:some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona:for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Upon this rock, which is that Word revealed by God and not by flesh and blood, the church will stand.
Everything else will fail.
John 4 ... Jesus says ... 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit:and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
