Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet
In some church
groups, people go forward and line up and a minister goes down the line
laying hands on them one person at a time and the individual falls over
backward and someone stands behind the line and catches the person as he
falls and lowers him to the ground.
They call this: Slain in the spirit
There is no such thing as this in the Bible.
What
they are doing is a learned thing as they watch this happen it seems
spiritual so they yield to falling backward, knowing someone will catch
them.
There is no significance at all in this act.
It
reminds me of the old time "Holy Rollers" who fell to ground and rolled
about on the floor thinking they had the spirit come upon them.
But the Spirit of God gives us the following: II Tim. 1:7 ... For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Recently
a man mentioned Ananias and Sapphira his wife (Acts 5) when they fell
down dead for lying to the Holy Spirit ... but this is not being slain
in the spirit ... Ananias and Sapphira were killed by God. They were slain in the flesh and the spirit left them.
The practice known as slain in the spirit which is practiced today at some churches is a false doctrine.
It is the same type of thing as the false doctrine of eating crackers
and drinking grape juice and calling it the Lord's supper. The Lord's
supper is eating and drinking the word of God and putting that specific
word from God into daily practice in your life. By doing this you eat
Jesus. Please read: What is the Lord's supper?
