John 8:31-32 ... Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If
ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye
shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Continue means: to go on in a specified course of action ... to do and keep on doing ...
Many start the word and do it for awhile and then stop doing that instruction.
Mk. 4 ... The sower soweth the word. 15And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. 16And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended. 18And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, 19And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. 20And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
And if we continue in that word which we have received from God by His Spirit, at some point we will know the truth about the matter at hand ... and we will be free from the situation.
About 2 1/2 years ago, I was drawn to the following WORD ... Phil. 2 ... Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation,
I sat about to do this word ... stopping anything that would be personal achievement ... I had already stopped bridge ... and I carefully examined everything else I was doing that would cause people to admire me in achievement of man. People do all sorts of things to gain approval of man. Clothing, cars, homes, rise in promotions at work, college degrees ... a constant striving to rise above other humans.
After 7 months of burning my flesh this way, God gave me a dream to show me to go on Internet and do these writings.
It is sort of like fasting ... to stop achieving ...
If we are shown by the Holy Spirit to stop something and we stop that which we are shown and continue, we as fasting. But it must be the Holy Spirit showing us this otherwise it is self-righteous works.
