As God brought about many wonders, bringing judgment on the Egyptians and delivering the children of Israel from the Egyptians, we see examples of the care, protection, and provision God has for His children, a
Father caring for His children.
God saw that the Egyptians afflicted the children of Israel, laying heavy burdens
on them. God also heard their cries, and had
compassion on them, telling Moses HE knew their sorrows and would deliver them from the Egyptians and bring them to a good and large land flowing with milk and honey ...
Exodus 3:7 And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction
of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of
their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; 8 And I am come down to
deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out
of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk
and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the
Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 9 Now
therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me:
and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress
them. 10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto
Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel
out of Egypt.
When God instructed Moses in what to say to Pharaoh, God spoke of Israel, HIS people, being HIS firstborn son ....
Exodus 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord,
Israel is my son, even my firstborn: 23 And I say unto thee, Let my son
go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I
will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
As God showed His great power in plagues brought on the
Egyptians, the children of Israel were protected from many of these, divided from the Egyptians. When swarms of
flies were sent on the land, the land of Goshen where the children
of Israel dwelled was separated with no swarm of flies being there. God put a division
between HIS people, the children of Israel ... and the Egyptians, the
children of Pharaoh. ...
Exodus 8:20 ... Thus saith the Lord, Let
my people go, that they may serve me. 21 Else, if thou wilt not
let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee,
and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses:
and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of
flies, and also the ground whereon they are. 22 And I will sever
in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that
no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know
that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth. 23 And I will put
a division between my people and thy people: to morrow shall
this sign be.
When the cattle of the Egyptians were killed, none of the cattle of
the children of Israel died as Moses told Pharaoh ...
Exodus 9:4 And the Lord shall sever between the cattle
of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die
of all that is the children's of Israel. ... 6 And the Lord did that thing on the morrow,
and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the
children of Israel died not one.
When God sent hail on the land of Egypt, there was no hail in the land of Goshen ...
Exodus 9:25 And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt
all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail
smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the
field. 26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of
Israel were, was there no hail.
When thick darkness which could be felt came on the Egyptians for 3 days, the children of Israel had light in their homes ...
Exodus 10:21 And the Lord said unto Moses,
Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness
over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. 22 And
Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a
thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: 23 They saw
not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days:
but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
Before God killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, HE gave clear and specific instructions to Moses and Aaron for the children of Israel, that their firstborn would be spared ...
Exodus 12:3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying,
In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb,
according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: 4 And if
the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next
unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man
according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb
shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out
from the sheep, or from the goats: 6 And ye shall keep it up until the
fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the
congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. 7 And they shall
take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper
door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. 8 And they shall eat
the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and
with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at
all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with
the purtenance thereof. 10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until
the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall
burn with fire. 11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded,
your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat
it in haste: it is the Lord 's passover. 12 For I will pass through the
land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land
of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will
execute judgment: I am the Lord. 13 And the blood shall
be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the
blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to
destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
As God promised, HE delivered HIS people from the Egyptians with a strong hand. When God killed all the firstborn of the Egyptians, the children of Israel were allowed, and even hastened, to leave. And they left with their children, flocks, herds, and much cattle as well as with riches from the Egyptians, God giving them favor in the eyes of the Egyptians ...
Exodus 12:33 And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men. ... 35 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:36 And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians. 37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. 38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.
