I Jn. 5:18 ... We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
We who are begotten of God are born of the Spirit of God who lives in us to lead us and guide us and teach us all things. We follow God by HIS Spirit. The Spirit of God does not lead us into sin but away from sin and we follow HIM. Therefore we are kept by the Spirit of God as we depart from ungodly things, keeping ourselves by the Spirit of God. We are not kept by our own flesh. The flesh of man leads man into sin by various desires of the flesh. But we who are of God have crucified our flesh as we follow the Spirit of God not permitting the flesh to rule us. When we are born of the Spirit of God we are able to do this.
II Tim. 1 ... That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
