Luke 12 / I Peter 2

Lk. 12 ... Jesus says ... And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to His will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

48But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes.

For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

I Peter 2:20 ... (NIV) ... How is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it?

We who have the Holy Spirit, The Spirit of Truth, and have been taught by God through the Holy Spirit and the Holy Scriptures and choose to believe the devil and cast aside Bible, the inspired Word of God, will surely be beaten with many stripes and only by the grace of God will we not be cast away.  We certainly deserve to be beaten.  And this beating for wrong doing is not to our credit in any way, nor can we make it to our credit.

Suffering for speaking the word of God and suffering the reproaches of man because we have spoken the word of God is "acceptable" with God. (I Peter 2:20)  In this case, we are comforted and sustained by God.

When the mercy of God has kept us from total destruction, we lift up our heads, purpose to believe the Word of God (labor to believe what God says), and go forth in the Word of God and the ways of God.  We might still gather some reward from God in the time remaining.

I Cor. 3 ... For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (The Word of God) 12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

14If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
