Proverbs 8:13

Pam Padgett - teacher

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

arrogance - exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities

Reading Proverbs 8:13 I thought of how I hate to hear boastful announcements people make of what they will achieve because they are "determined" to do it.  Proudly telling their plans as though nothing can stop them.  They don't acknowledge God but make their will and determination a kind of "god".  Giving no thought that they may not even be alive to do these plans.

But when we fear God we turn to God seeking to do His will.  We submit ourselves to God, willing for what we may want to do to be stopped or changed.  Desiring the will of God over our own will.
