Prove all things

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

Where is that in the Bible?

Everything we do should be measured by this?  Where is that in the Bible?

11 These (in Berea) were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. 12Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.  Acts 17

Recently a pastor asked us to be a "mentor church" to his group.  I replied that I do not know what a "mentor church " is since that is not in the Bible.

In the United States there is a holiday set by humans and it is called "Memorial Day".  People go to graveyards and decorate graves.  After I because a Christian I asked "Why" do Christians do that?  Where in the Bible does it tell us to go and decorate graves?  I didn't do that.

Paul said ... 21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22Abstain from all appearance of evil.  I Thess. 5

In response to the pastor who asked us to be a "mentor church", I said:  apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers are given to the church to work in the church.  We do not work in just a single church group but wherever the church is we work in that office to which we are called by God ... so that the church might grow in things of God.  (Eph. 4)

But there is no such thing in the Bible as "mentor church."  So each of us correct ourselves when we come across something that is not in the Bible and we turn from that knowing we have likely set up some thinking that is a plan of man and not of God.

Each of us are continually reborn by the Word of God.  It is not a one time experience.  As long as we live on this earth, we are reborn over and over, being conformed yet again by the Word of God as we read the Bible and set aside that which is not in the Bible and go in the way the Bible as the Spirit of God instructs.  Each time we do this, we are recreated in the image of God by the conformity to the Word of God.

23Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. I Peter 1

21Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. James 1
