Waring in way of God

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)  5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;  II Cor. 10

Negative thoughts come to all persons.  These thoughts are destructive.  In the world, people often drink to stop thinking about the "bad" things.  Some women go shopping to lift their spirits.  Some clean out closets.

But there is a spiritual way for us to deal with destructive (negative) thoughts.  And we must take each thought captive through God when it is a destructive thought.

The way we do this is to turn to God with the thought.  We pray, asking God:  "What about this?"

Usually after I pray, I will be reminded of a scripture ... and when I look at the scripture I see that the negative thought is exalting itself against that scripture, against the knowledge of God.  Therefore I bring that thought into captivity by believing the scripture brought to me by the Holy Spirit.  I fight with that scripture.  This is what Paul is speaking  in II Cor. 10:4-5.

At one time in my life, I even took a notebook and wrote down the negative thought ... then after talking to God about it and hearing from the Holy Spirit on the issue, I would write that down under that negative thought.  It was very powerful warfare!

These thoughts sometimes come into our mind so quickly.  And they flee almost before we know we have had such.  But when we can really focus on the negative thought and take it to God in prayer and then focus on that which the Spirit of God speaks, we see such a power of God and it can become a way of life for us because the devil departed from Jesus "for a season"(Lk 4:13)... and it is that way with us also.  As long as we live on this earth, the devil will speak that which is opposite to the word God speaks on the issue at hand.  It is up to us to take the negative thought captive and bring that negative thought into obedience of Christ.

If we fail to do so, the negative thought can be a seed which rises at will to harm us.

So it is very important to do what Paul said and take every thought captive bringing that thought to obedience of Christ.
