Spiritual warfare

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

In the Bible, we have several sections of scripture showing us spiritual warfare.

Taking thoughts captive:

II Cor. 10 ... For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)  5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Thoughts come into our minds in various ways.  The thought might come from the Spirit of God.  The thought might come from a devil trying to lead us and even trying to imitate the Spirit of God.

We have to bring every thought into the obedience of Christ ... to obedience with the Word of God.

These thoughts must be examined.

One way to do this is through prayer, asking God to show the truth concerning that thought.  Often when I do this I will be reminded of a scripture and by that I know if that thought is from God or from another spirit.

Put on the whole armor of God:

Eph. 6 ... Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.    13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

When I was a new Christian, people kept telling me I needed to put on the whole armor of God.  I would ask:  How do I do that?  The answer they frequently gave was to put on Jesus.  But I didn't know how to put on Jesus and I didn't know what that meant.

One day, God explained to me how to put on the whole armor of God.  You dress yourself in truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the word of God and prayer.  7 parts of armor.

Each part is important.

Concerning dressing in peace ... if we are troubled about anything ... if we dread anything ... we have not settled the matter with God through prayer.  If we are striving with anyone, we have to take this to God.  God might eliminate it with a word or God might have us go to that person to settle the matter.  I've had both happen in my life.  But it is essential that we live in peace. This does not mean compromising the truth for if we did that we would not be living in truth.  But God has a way to help us when we belong to HIM.

Try the spirits to see whether they are from God:

I Jn. 4 ... Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
