We have to force our minds to think on that which God says. We remain sober by doing this. And we deliberately keep our hope in God on the matter at hand, focusing on that which God has told us about each specific subject. Our head is God, Jesus Christ, and not the thoughts that come by man. So we make that deliberate effort to think on that which God has said for it is truth.
Yesterday morning I was bombarded with condemning thoughts about myself. But what God said to me by the Holy Spirit is the following: Romans 8:1 ... There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
When I heard Romans 8:1, I said, "That's right!" I then focused on that truth from God by HIS Spirit.

Be holy in speaking and be holy in our way of life ... choosing the good, that which conforms to the Bible ... rejecting the ideas and approvals of this world which are opposite to Bible.
I Jn. 5:19 ... And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
