Galatians 5:22-23 ... But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance:
against such there is no law.
Exhortation: Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet
Galatians 5 compares the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit.
Paul tells us the works of the flesh are the following: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
If we have the Spirit of God, HIS way is contrary to the ways of our flesh. When we have the Spirit of God and follow HIM, then we reject the ways of the flesh. Each of us are confronted by fleshly ways but we reject them to follow the Spirit of God and to serve God. We no longer serve ourselves as we once did.
The woman taken in adultery was forgiven by Jesus ... but notice that Jesus told her the following instruction: Jn. 8:11 ... go, and sin no more.
When we are forgiven, we don't keep doing these fleshly sins as we once did. For each temptation, God makes a way for us to escape ... We must choose the way of escape.
I Cor. 10 ... There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 14Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
The way to escape is always there for God is faithful to provide it. But if we don't see the way of escape, we just cry out, "God help me." (I've often done that and God always helps me avoid the situation or escape from the temptation.)
