Scripture: Shared by body of Christ

1 Peter 5:8-9 ... Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Exhortation:  (Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet)

Sober:  We could be drunk with wine, but we also could be drunk with giddiness.  The cares of this world could cause us to fail to be "sober" in mind and in thinking.  We could be drunk with our own fleshy emotions, wanting things to be as we desired rather than seeing them as they are, deceiving ourselves.

We are to deal with the church and God will judge the church.

For example:  I Cor. 5 tells us if a man who calls himself is a brother while committing fornication we are to put him out of the church.

You may wonder if he will be saved if you take this strong action.  But our job is to do the word of God in the matter before us and Paul said to put such a "brother" away from us.  God will judge salvation.  The only thing we can do is the word of God on the issue.  God will determine who will be saved and who will be damned.  Salvation is of God.

Our job is simply to do I Cor. 5 when we see it.

I Cor. 5 ... Paul says ... 9I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?  13But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

This is part of being "sober" ...

A very important key to resisting the devil is to turn to God in prayer with the issue at hand and when the Holy Spirit reminds you of something after prayer, resist the devil by focusing on that given you by God through the Spirit, doing that instruction and continuing to do that instruction.
