Circumcision is symbolic of cutting away of the flesh. Dead people no longer serve the flesh. When we belong to God, everything is different. The fleshly temptations may still be there but we have the power of God in us by the Holy Spirit which now dwells in us. We have access to God directly through prayer so help is always available to us.
We, who now belong to God, "are the circumcision." We are the real children of God when we belong to HIM.
We know there is no good thing in our flesh as Paul stated in I Cor. 7
We previously planned and schemed and tricked our way into getting what we wanted. Evil fruits of the flesh.
Now we reckon our flesh to be dead with Christ so that in newness of life we can serve God instead of serving our flesh. Rom. 6
We can only do this when we are born again and have HIS Spirit in us. Many religious people try to do this but fail because their religious works are of their own flesh and you cannot serve God by your fleshly ideas. You will end up doing all manner of works that you and your church group set up but these will only seem to be good works.
If you continue in this way, you are in great danger of having the following happen at day of judgment.
Jesus says: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Mt. 7
When your works are authored by man you are in great danger. When your works are authored by a minister or a church group, you are in danger.
The only thing that works is hearing from God and doing what God authors.
If your faith is in your minister or church, you will think it is God sending you to do that work. But it may only be works of the flesh of man authored by religious ideas which are of the mind of man and not the Spirit of God. You can even follow a scripture and have this happen. The devil quoted scripture to Jesus and tried to get Jesus to follow HIM but Jesus would not do this even though it would have seemed like following a scripture.
Mt. 4 ... Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
