Job 33:15-18 ... Scripture: Shared by body of Christ

Job 33:15-18 ... In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; 16 Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, 17 That he may withdraw man from his (own) purpose, and hide pride from man. 18 He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

Exhortation:  Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

What about dreams?  Are dreams from God?  Does God use dreams with the NT church since we have the Holy Spirit to teach us and show us things to come.

About 30 years ago, I dealt with the subject of dreams and by the Bible I established what I believe to be truth about dreams.

There is no where that I know of in the Bible where the devil sends a dream.  Therefore I came to believe that dreams are from God.

Mt. 2 has many examples of God using dreams to show a person what to do ...

Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. 8And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. 10When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.  12And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

... 13And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

... 19But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 20Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.

...  22But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee: 23And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets,  He shall be called a Nazarene.

What about after the Holy Spirit was given to all believers?  Did God still use dreams to lead his people?

Acts 16 ...  9And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him,  saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. 10And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

I have many examples in my life of God giving me a dream or speaking to me in a dream to show me what to do or what not to do.

Since I had made a study of the examples of dreams in OT and NT, I had established my heart concerning this matter so when I was given a dream, I just did what I was told to do.  In one dream, God put me on radio.  In another dream, God put me on internet to do these writings.

Sometimes I will become discouraged and will have the thought that it does no good to do these writings but when that happens I always remember the dream God gave me to get me to do these writings and I am established to continue.  (Also Heb. 3 & Heb. 10 tells us to exhort one another to encourage us to continue in the faith.)
