John 6:63 ... It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth
nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are
life.

Only those words spoken to us by the Spirit of God are life and light.
Our flesh can conjure many activities and concepts. The devil sends other ideas to us.
But only those things spoken by the Spirit of God are light.
Therefore we have to know the spirit behind the idea and act upon those ideas from God and reject those things from the flesh and the other spirits that send ideas.
John instructs:
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist I Jn. 4
And we recognize the works of the flesh by the following:
Gal. 5 ... Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness (fraud), lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance (to argue/debate to get own way), emulations (to try to outdo others), wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
