1 Thess. 5:5-6 ... Scripture: Shared by body of Christ

1 Thess. 5:5-6 ... Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Exhortation:  Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

To "sleep" would be to day dream ... to fail to heed the Spirit of God who warns us and wakes us up to the danger ...

The devil is a charmer ... He doesn't come to us saying, "HI, I'm the devil."  Often he brings very charming things and lulls us into a type of "sleep".

When I read a book about Ted Bundy (serial killer), I find I'm less charmed than when I read a book where everything is wonderful.  It is not that I care to view the explicit horrors of a murderer, but to know there are murderers keeps me more on my toes, so to speak.

So many people want to see everything as good ... They want to stay away from ideas of bad.

But the Bible warns us many times of the evils that will come in the last days and tells us since we are light we want to operate as light.

I Tim. 3 ... This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

When Jesus sent his disciples out into the world, HE said to them:  Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.  17But beware of men:  Mt. 10

Certainly we want to think on "lovely" things as Paul said to do.  Phil. 4:8 ... But lovely things cannot be lovely unless they contain truth.  Fairy tales are not lovely because they do not contain truth.  Thinking on Jesus being raised by God from the dead is a lovely thing to think on.
