We who are born of the Spirit of God are no longer creatures of this world. How then can we who are of God follow this world? We can't.
After I was born again in 1975, I visited two Baptist woman. I was shocked that they were going on with the world to decorate graves on Memorial Day. How can this be, I questioned them. How can we who are of God go out with the world to do pagan acts which are not required by God. This should not be.
We who are of God do not become mindless and follow the world. Rather God recreates us in HIS own image that we can follow Him.
We should think about those things we do.

One very common thing done in a mindless way by worldly people is to end meetings by saying "have a good day". They even do this to strangers.
If you "bless" a person by joining to that person by wishing him a good day, and he goes out and commits adultery or fornication in an attempt to have a good day, are not you become a part of his adultery or fornication? What does the Bible say about such?
II Jn. vv. 9-10 ... Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

The world is darkness and the people of this world walk in darkness. We who are of God have been redeemed from darkness and brought into light. How can we walk in the darkness as we once did?
We have to consider that which we do and Paul tells us to work out our own salvation in fear and trembling. I believe this means to work out our lives in a fear of God, paying close attention to that which God says, that which is right in the sight of God. We are new creations now and we should walk in the light of the Word of God now and not in the pagan ways of this world.
For example: people go out to eat and often they click their glasses together in some feeling of unity and blessing of each other. But this is meaningless and if you were to ask why they do this act, they probably couldn't tell you. They do it because others do it and it seems right to them. But it does not seem right to me so I don't do this. Why are we led by pagans? Why are we led by this world that walks in darkness.
Don't we think about that which we now do?
Paul chastised the church for failing to think Paul said: Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. I Cor. 15:34
It is a shame for those who belong to God to follow the world and live like the people of the world.
We should think ... What does this mean? What does God have to say about this?
And when we are of God, we should follow God.
