Christian ? or born again Christian ... the difference

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

In the beginning of the church age, the church in the days of Peter, shortly after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, there was the following ...Acts 1 ... The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: 3To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: 4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.  5For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

...8But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

After Jesus was taken up into heaven ... 12Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey. 13And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. 14These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
15And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said,  (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

The apostles, men, women were together ... "about 120" people.

Acts 2 ... 1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This was the beginning of the New Testament Church.  Jesus was resurrected from the tomb by God.  He was raised from the dead in bodily form according to the prophets which said God would not suffer Jesus to see corruption.  The fleshly body of Jesus would not decay as other fleshly bodies decay after death.

Lk. 24 ... 1Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: 5And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?  6He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7Saying,  The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 8And they remembered his words, 9And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. 11And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. 12Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

The body of Jesus was gone and the grave clothes were lying there in the tomb.

God had raised Jesus from the dead in both body and spirit.  After that Jesus appeared to more than 500 people before HE ascended into heaven. (I Cor. 15:6)

And at the day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost (the Holy Spirit) was giving to the believers.

Acts 11:26 ... And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

3000 years pass ... and that brings us to today's church ... but now we have 2 Christian church types, rather than one.

We have "Christians" and we have "born again Christians".  (The early church had only born again Christians.)

The United States is called a Christian nation because the predominate religion in numbers in the United States is Christian ... then there are Jews and many other types of religions.

People who do not have the Spirit of God often identify themselves as being Christian.  Basically this means they believe Jesus is the son of God.  They believe parts of the Bible.  They may have been baptized, committed to the religion of a specific church group.  They may or may not attend that group, many do not attend but still call themselves Christian.

Then there are the born again Christians, like the first church group when the Holy Spirit was given after Jesus ascended.

But the only group that really counts are those who are born of the Spirit of God.

Paul defines that for us in Romans 8:9 ...  Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His... v. 14   For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Jesus, Himself, said you could not enter the kingdom of God unless you were born again.

Jn. 3 ... Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.  8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Today we have children of God (those who have the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit) ... and we have those who say they are Christians but do not have the Spirit of God ... Only those born of the Spirit of God can enter into the kingdom of God, says Jesus in the above scripture.

What we experience today with these two groups, Christian and born again Christians is the following:

Mt. 13 ... Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this.  The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Those who call themselves Christian but do not have the Spirit of God often go about doing all manner of works taught them by their church group.

But only those born again, having the Spirit of God will enter the kingdom of God, says Jesus in Jn. 3::5.

In the day of judgment, all will appear before the judgment seat of Christ.  Those without the Spirit of God have been doing various works in the name of Jesus on the earth as taught them by their church group.  They will not be allowed into the kingdom of God without having the Spirit of God.  Jn. 3  So they will be turned away.

Mt. 7 ... Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them,  I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Vast numbers will be turned away and will not be permitted to enter into the kingdom of heaven and will spend all eternity separated from God, from Jesus, and from all that pertains to the kingdom of God.

Those permitted to enter, those having the Spirit of God, will not be grieving over those who are turned away for in that day there will be no remembrance of this present world.  Everything will be new.  Isaiah 65:17 ... For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
