James 4:4 ... know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
We make ourselves into the enemy of God when we try to be a friend to the world.
The world loves sex outside of marriage. Do we approve that? NO! God forbid. How then can we be friends with those who go about seeking sex outside of marriage.
To be a friend means to support another in his or her activities.
Are we a friend to homosexuals/lesbians? Do we run around and keep company with these people? To do so would be to support them, approving them.
I don't often correct a person of the world, but neither do I run around with such.
To try to make ourselves a friend of the world causes us to be an enemy of God.
