Scripture: Shared by body of Christ

Psalm 65:4 ... Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

Exhortation:  (Joan Boney)

The world trusts in themselves and in others.  They rarely, if ever, think of God when there is a problem.  They just try to figure out in their own mind what to do or they turn to other humans asking what they should do.

We who are of God "approach God" ... We might forget to pray about some things but when things greatly trouble us we turn to God in prayer asking for help.

Recently a man visited me and he was talking about how nice it is to have friends where you can tell them your troubles.

I told him of talking by phone with friends.  But we do not take our "troubles" to each other.  We take our troubles to God.  We turn to God first.  We pour our heart out to God rather than to humans.

He replied:  But what about this scripture.  James 5 ...Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

I replied:  This pertains to those who are "sick".  And even if we are sick, first we turn to God in prayer.  And if the Holy Spirit shows you to call on "the elders" / or another in the church ... we would hopefully do that.  But scripture must not be followed by ritual or by our mind.  The Holy Spirit must direct us in using scripture.

James 5:13  Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.
