None of us belong to God by our own will. (Romans 9:16)
We who belong to God belong by God's will, because God chose us just as God chose Abraham in the Old Testament and as God chose the nation of Israel to be His people in the Old Testament.
Since it is God who started the work in us, it is God we trust to finish that work.
We read the Bible. We pay attention to that which we read. We try to adjust our lives daily to that Word. But it is God we trust to keep us by His Spirit that dwells in us.
