Psa. 75 ... For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
To accomplish HIS own purpose, God often sets a person up in a place. Sometimes that person can be evil sometimes that person can be good. Regardless, God sets it up. God set up king of Babylon to bring judgment against Israel because Israel would not obey HIM. God set up Joseph in Egypt to save Israel in time of famine.
Daniel was set up by God. God gave the king a dream which greatly troubled king. The king required interpretation from his wise men. But since the king did not trust his wise men, he required them to first tell him the dream and then the interpretation. The wise men replied: There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. 11And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh. Daniel 2
The king then ordered that the wise men be killed.
Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation. Daniel 2:16
Daniel turned to God and waited on God and God gave Daniel the dream and the interpretation. Daniel 2
I thought of how God set the "promotion" up by causing circumstances in the life of the king and putting Daniel in the situation with the answer.
The same thing happened with Joseph. After Joseph's brothers sold Joseph into bondage, the situation came that the Pharaoh had a troubling dream. Joseph interpreted the dream and Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of all Egypt.
Prov. 18:16 ... A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
