Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet
The following is an interesting example of God appearing to Elijah.
And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah? 10And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 11And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: 12And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. I Kings 19
And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, I Kings 19
We will often have an idea, a gentle thought ... God speaks this way ... but so does the devil. So we have to pray after we have the idea to see which spirit brought that idea. (Try the spirits whether they are of God ... I Jn. 4)
God will sometimes give a dream to show instruction or to give needed information.
The Spirit of God in us causes scripture to stand out to us so we can receive specific instruction for that point in time.
And we are told the following: But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. James 3
One of the primary ways we know if the idea is from God is by this: Is it easy to be intreated? Is it easy to be administered?
If you feel uncomfortable about the direction, back off ... pray ... ask God to confirm the direction ... It might be a spirit not of God trying to get you to do that.
Many "good" works are not of God.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Mt. 7
