Philippians 4:13 ... I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Exhortation: Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet
Christ, THE WORD, strengthens us and makes it possible for us to do things we couldn't do before.
Recently when a bad memory came into my mind and began to pull me down, the Holy Spirit brought the following to my attention: Romans 8:28 ... And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
This removed the power of the bad memory of what I had done in past and caused me to rejoice that I have been chosen by God and belong to God. By this the Holy Spirit changed my focus.
When thoughts of money come to me, the Holy Spirit often reminds me of the following:
I Tim. 6 ... But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
We just don't seek after the same things the world seeks.
The world plans for tomorrow. Not only do they not know what they are doing, they have no real power to make anything happen tomorrow.
James 4 ... Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
We live another way.
Mt. 6 ... Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Instead of planning for tomorrow, we set about to determine the will of God today and to do today that which we believe to be the will of God.
Which is the safer way ... the way of the world where they plan for tomorrow ... or the way of God where we simply seek HIS will in that which we do today?
