Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet
David was a "man after God's own heart", desiring to do the will of God on this earth. But David looked upon a woman who was the wife of another man and David had sex with her and she became pregnant. Then David ordered her husband to be put on the front lines of battle and David ordered that his army pull back to allow this husband to be killed and he was killed.
God sent a prophet to David after this.
And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor. 2The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds: 3But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter. 4And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die: 6And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8And I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. 10Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. 11Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. 12For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD.
And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. 14Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
II Sam. 12
God put away David's sins ... But God exacted a penalty upon David on this present earth.
Do we have an example of such in New Testament.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Gal. 6
Here is an interesting example of a penalty on earth for wrong doing ... In this case it involved wrong doing by one king (Saul) but the penalty was on the people and another king (David) after Saul's death.
Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites. 2And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.) 3Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD? II Sam. 21
Certainly we are saved to eternal life by the blood of Jesus. But if we have wronged someone on this earth, we might need to go to that person and try to correct our wrong doing.
After I was born again, I did this several times ... going to people I had wronged. Asking those people to forgive me. Confessing my wrong doing to those people. Some received me. In each case, I felt I was led by God to do this. We must always be led by God.
There is a "vengence" of God against wrong doing. There is a justice of God where wrong doing is concerned. If we do wrong, before or after we are born again, we might find we are led to try to right the wrong even though we are justified in the sight of God by the blood of Jesus. Do things honest in the sight of all men. (Romans 12:17)
