John 2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of
Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: 2 And both Jesus was called,
and his disciples, to the marriage. 3 And when they wanted wine, the
mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus saith unto
her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. 5
His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
John 2:6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the
manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins
apiece. 7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they
filled them up to the brim. 8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and
bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. 9 When the ruler
of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not
whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the
governor of the feast called the bridegroom, 10 And saith unto him,
Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have
well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine
until now.
Without those who were there knowing what was happening, the water was
changed into wine. The servants simply obeyed what Jesus told them to
do, and the water was changed.
I thought of how we are changed by the Word of God. When we first believed and were born again, we were changed. We were no longer the person we had been before. We were given the Holy Spirit and began to be changed from within, being changed by God.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Throughout our lives as the Holy Spirit opens our eyes to the Word of
God and works in our lives by that Word, we are changed. We are
continually being transformed into the image of Christ. I am not the
same person I was even six months ago. The changes in me were not
changes I set out to make but, rather, changes that were made in me by
God as I've tried to follow each Word brought to me by the Holy Spirit.
And so it is with each person who pays attention to, and tries to obey,
the Word given to us.
Romans 12:12 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of
God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable
unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to
this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye
may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
And, when Jesus returns, we will be changed from that which is corruptible into that which is incorruptible and can never die ...
1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood
cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit
incorruption. 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep,
but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be
raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible
must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So
when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal
shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying
that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is
thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin;
and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
