1 Peter 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles:
that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your
good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of
visitation.
honest:
- that will not lie, cheat, steal
- truthful, trustworthy, fair
- free from deceit, straightforward
- being what it seems, genuine, pure
- frank and open
Most of us consider ourselves to be honest, not stealing, not trying to
cheat others, not setting out to deceive others. But we may try to protect ourselves when we are led to
share truth from God with those who may ridicule, shun, or speak evil of
us. Instead of being honest ... straightforward, free from deceit,
frank, and open ... we may try to hide the truth we've been given. This is something each of us face.
Its important for us to be honest in all areas of our lives, including allowing the
truth of God to come forth when we have it.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
It strengthens us in being honest in all of our ways to consider that just as God provides all our physical needs, He will provide our need to
be restored when people hate us. God provides what we need to say. God provides any need we have for people in our lives. God provides
all our needs.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
While considering these things, I've heard several times "Just be honest".
