πŸ’₯ In the last days, God says, "Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy." (Acts 2:16)

Comments by Joan Boney:

When God showed me I was to be a minister, I asked Him, "What about that scripture where Paul says Let your women keep silence in the churches?  For it is not permitted for them to speak."  (I Cor. 14:34)

The Holy Spirit said to me:  "Look at what these women were doing."

I Corinthians 14

34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

It looked to me like these women were speaking out asking questions in the gathering of the church.  This would be out of order.  So Paul says, "If they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home."  (verse 35)

Recently my attention was also drawn to Acts 2:17-18.

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of MY Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of MY Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Prophesy is for the church.  (Eze. 3:5-7)

To prophesy a woman would have to speak to the church.

(For me, this is another confirmation that Paul was bringing correction to women in the church at Corinth who were out of control, likely asking questions.)

I certainly agree with Paul concerning women who speak by their own flesh.  But when God gives that woman a word of prophesy at church, she is free to speak.

Another strong example is the prophet Deborah.

God set Deborah in the church to judge the people of God.

Judges 4

4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.

Deborah also brought correction to Barak as follows:

And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?

7 And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.

8 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.

9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.

Other examples of women assigned by God to work in the New Testament church.

Anna(Was there at the temple when Jesus was a baby and they brought HIM to the temple)

Luke 2:36-38

36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of HIM to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

The 4 daughters of Philip:

Acts 21

8 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

Shortly after I was born again in 1975, in the night while I was sleeping, I was "transported into heaven".

(It was similar to the example of the man taken into heaven which Paul spoke of in 2 Cor. 12.)

Paul says:

2 Corinthians 12:2-4

2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)

4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

When I was transported into heaven, I was with God, with Christ, with the Holy Spirit.  (I saw no physical images.  It was in the spirit.)

At that time, I was merged into the body of Jesus, God and Holy Spirit witnessing.

And a few days later, the exact same thing happened again as I was asleep in the night.

Later I came to believe at those 2 times I was set into the 2 ministry offices which Jesus gave me to work in for the church:  Offices of apostle & prophet.

Ephesians 4:11-12  And HE (Jesus) gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

God taught me this about New Testament apostles:

The apostles are ordained by God to deal with scripture, bringing the church to all scripture.

In the end time, apostles will have to deal with the end time apostasy.  (II Thess. 2)

Churches will fall away from portions of scripture.  The NT apostles will try to get them to return to the scripture shown in the NT Bible.

God showed me Acts 15 where the apostles set rulings for the NT church.

The NT prophets deal with bringing correction to the church and also speaking of things to come in the church and exhorting the church in the ways of God.

Several examples of prophets working in the church are presented in the book of Acts.

Acts 11:27   And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

Acts 21:10  And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.

Acts 11:28   And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

Acts 15:32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

(Judas, but not Iscariot.  That Judas was already dead before the days of the NT church in Acts.)

Acts 15:40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

(Silas, a NT prophet, accompanied Paul on several of his ministry trips and several times in the book of Acts we read the name Silas.)

Acts 16:26  And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

Acts 16:29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

Acts 17:14 And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus (evangelist) abode there still.

Acts 17:10   And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

Acts 17:4  And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

Acts 18:5   And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

Acts 16:19 And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,

Acts 17:15  And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed.

Acts 15:22  Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul (apostle/teacher) and Barnabas (apostle); namely, Judas (prophet) surnamed Barsabas, and Silas (prophet), chief men among the brethren:

New Testament apostles appointed by Jesus from heaven and named in Bible:  Paul & Barnabas

New Testament prophets appointed by Jesus from heaven and named in Bible:  Silas, Agabus, Judas (not Iscariot)
