Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet
Recently a woman told me she had learned to act immediately when she heard something to do. (She was about to do something very fleshly which I knew was not of God.)
I replied, "But you have to try the spirit that is speaking thoughts to you to see if that spirit is from God."
The devil surfaces as an angel of light, bringing "religious" ideas to us.
We can't just act upon those ideas which come into our minds.
Sometimes we can tell immediately when the thought is from the devil because sometimes that thought would be a great burden even causing us to go into debt.
Other times it is not as clear. Then we have to pray, asking God to confirm that thought if it is from HIM.
But always we must evaluate to see whether the idea is from God. We cannot just jump up and do what the thought says to do. We have thoughts from the Spirit of God when we belong to God. But we also have thoughts from the devil when we belong to God. We remember the devil tempted Jesus: Mt. 4 & Lk. 4 The devil instructed Jesus in both these examples of scripture. But Jesus knew it was coming from the devil and not from God so Jesus resisted those instructions from the devil.
Mt. 4 ... Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
In Lk. 4:13 ... we read: And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a season.
We are warned in I Jn. 4, to try the spirits, whether they are from God.
It is shocking to think that anyone could think every thought he had is from God. God brings thoughts to our mind through HIS Spirit. The devil also brings thoughts to our mind. Many ideas from devil seem good but end up being way of death to us. We must determine if the thought is from God. And we must firmly know that two spirits speak to us. One Spirit is God. The other spirit is the devil.
I Cor. 11:14 ... Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
So the devil will imitate God and bring some ideas which seem right ...
