Luke 21:5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with
goodly stones and gifts, he said, 6 As for these things which ye
behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one
stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
While reading of those speaking of the temple and how it was adorned, I recalled something that happened recently. I saw a
picture of a magnificently built hotel and was very impressed with its
grandeur. But while thinking about it I was reminded of the following ...
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that
are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is
not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and
the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but
is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:
but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Our flesh is drawn to such things as great beauty, accomplishments, exceptional
physical abilities. But, no matter how magnificent, these are of the world
and will pass away. However, the word of God will stand for ever (Isaiah 40:8), and those who do the will of God will live for ever. These are precious and to be sought after.
I was reminded of Jesus teaching us to lay up treasures in heaven ...
Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where
moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor
rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
