On the third day after Jesus died, Mary Magdalene went to the sepulchre and wept when the body of Jesus was not in the sepulchre. Jesus appeared to her and spoke with her ...
John 20:11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and
as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, 12 And
seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at
the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 And they say unto her,
Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken
away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. 14 And when she
had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew
not that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest
thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith
unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast
laid him, and I will take him away. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She
turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. 17
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my
Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
Jesus told Mary to tell the disciples, calling them His brethren, that He ascended to my Father, and your Father. As
I read this, I was reminded that because Jesus died for our sins and
rose again, redeeming us to God and giving His Spirit to lead those who
believe in Him, we are children of God and heirs with Jesus. We are His
brethren, and His Father is our Father.
Paul taught us about being heirs of God through Jesus ....
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they
are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage
again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we
cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit,
that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs
of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him,
that we may be also glorified together.
Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in
Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ
have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither
bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in
Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and
heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God
sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem
them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of
sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the
Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore
thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God
through Christ.
Titus 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our
Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we
have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of
regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us
abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by
his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal
life.
How blessed we are to be redeemed by the blood of Jesus and become heirs of God.
