No darkness in God

Pam Padgett ... teacher

1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

God is light ... completely pure, true, just, and righteous.  There is no darkness or unrighteousness in Him.

As God is holy, we are to be holy, not continuing in the ways of darkness ....

1 Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

If we walk led by the Holy Spirit in the light God gives us, the word of God, we are continually cleansed from unrighteousness and conformed to the word of God which is light...

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Jesus gave Himself that we, the church, may be presented to Him holy and pure, without stain or blemish, washed by the word of God ...

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

While thinking about these things, I was reminded of a vision I was given many years ago ...  Several other people and I were being drawn up through the air toward an extremely bright light.  The light was completely pure, much brighter than anything I have never seen.

As long as we live on this earth, let us purpose to go in the way of light and not darkness, allowing the word of God to work in our lives to conform us to the image of God.

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
