Trusting in God is not in vain

Pam Padgett ... teacher

Jeremiah 3:23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.

As I read this verse, I thought of how the world hopes in things it can see, things considered to be strong or held in high esteem, such as governments, corporations, medical and financial experts, ideas that are popular with multitudes of people.  Although these things will fail and cannot save, they seem powerful and safe to the natural eye, and many trust in them.

But those who have been called and taught by God, know that our hope is in God.  Only God created all things, is all powerful, and has all wisdom.  Only God is able to help us and save us no matter what we face both now and in the future.

If we have need, we turn to God and HE supplies all our need according to HIS riches ...

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

If we lack wisdom God will give us wisdom when we ask in faith ...

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

When we call on God with whatever we are dealing with, He will answer us ...

Psalm 91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

And we rejoice that God has provided the only way for us to have eternal life through Jesus Christ ...

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God is above all.  None other can save.  Turning to God and trusting God is not in vain.

Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

Psalm 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
