Dealing with "little" thoughts that spoil

Pam Padgett ... teacher

Recently I was thinking about how "little" thoughts ... thoughts that dart in and out of our minds as we're going about our way ... can greatly affect us.  We may find ourselves feeling agitated, fearful, or even kind of dead and not know why until we turn to God and ask Him to help us and show us what is going on.  Then we are reminded of the "little" thoughts that we treated as insignificant without turning to God with them.  I was reminded of what we're told in the following ...

Song of Solomon 2:15 Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.

I believe these "little" thoughts are some of the little foxes spoken of here.  They would rob us of peace and try to corrupt precious truth from God.  But we can "take" these foxes, these thoughts, as we turn to God and establish ourselves in the truth the Holy Spirit brings to us.  We bring our thoughts and what is in our hearts in line with the word of God.

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

The devil is always looking for ways to devour us, including bringing thoughts to us that are opposite to truth and trouble us.  We resist the devil as we turn to God and hold onto God's word to us, steadfast in the faith.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
