πŸ’₯ Sharing daily with the church

(Listed in alphabetical order:)

I John 4

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Spirits bring thoughts to our mind:  How can you "try the spirits" to see if the spirit that brought that thought is from God?

When a thought comes to my mind, I often say:  "Do you confess Jesus Christ is come in the flesh?

And immediately to mind comes, "Yes" or "No"

Proverbs 4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil. 15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

JOHN 14:1-4 LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED: YE BELIEVE IN GOD, BELIEVE ALSO IN ME (The Word) .

2. IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE ARE MANY MANSIONS: IF IT WERE NOT SO, I WOULD
HAVE TOLD YOU. I GO TO PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU.

3. AND IF I GO AND PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU, I WILL COME AGAIN, AND
RECEIVE YOU UNTO MYSELF; THAT WHERE I AM, THERE YE MAY BE
ALSO.

4. AND WHITHER I GO YE KNOW, AND THE WAY YE KNOW.

There are many things to trouble us in this world today, but thankfully we know the way. (The Word)

Last night we watched a documentary about Martha Stewart on CNN. She was very talented and worked hard in worldly ways and came to have great wealth and prominence. During this time she was asked by an interviewer what this status meant to her and she replied "success".

In gaining her wealth, Martha Stewart had worldly people advising her by whom she was given "insider" information about stocks she had invested in, and she gave instructions to sell the stocks before the information became public. This saved her approximately $45,000. Then she lied to the FBI about what she had done. She was convicted for lying to authorities and obstruction of justice and spent 5 months in prison as well as other penalties.

While watching these things I was reminded of God's way for success:

Joshua 1:8-9   This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

God leads us in ways of righteousness, what is right in HIS eyes. We don't go about seeking prosperity and success in worldly ways and giving up integrity for gain. We simply follow the way God leads us by HIS word by the Holy Spirit, and HE makes our way prosperous and gives us good success.

Yesterday I remembered something that God helped me with years ago and how grateful I was for what He did.

I went to paralegal school back in the 1990’s when we still lived in Houston Texas. After my class graduated everybody in the class needed to find a job. So the school helped us with our rΓ©sumΓ©s and we sent them out to various law firms in the city.

I was aware that most of the other students wanted to work in litigation for trial attorneys because that is where the most excitement and action would be.

I understood why that would have been attractive and probably would have felt the same way except that I was now a Christian and I really didn’t want to work in such a contentious environment where lawsuits and hostility were so much a part of the job.

Plus I had been a nurse and was concerned that having that background would have put me in line for a job with a law firm that handled a lot of medical negligence lawsuits and such.

During this period of time I kept praying, asking God to keep me out a job that would be troubling to me but to please put me somewhere where I would be happy.

I had no idea what that would be so I just kept praying, asking God to please provide something appropriate for me.

After I sent out my rΓ©sumΓ©s I heard back from a law firm that had a paralegal position open in their Estate Planning and Probate section and they wanted me to come in for an interview.

So I did and I ended up getting the job and discovered that it was the perfect job for me. I had a tiny little office off the law library so it was quiet. And most of my work involved writing Wills and Trusts for the attorney who was the head of this section, and a very pleasant man to work for.

I love to write, this was interesting to me, and I enjoyed the fact that my job kept me away from a lot of the other activities going on in the office. So I could work in peace. (Plus I ended up being the first person in my class to secure a job.)

I was so happy and grateful to God because I knew He had done this for me. He knew what would be best for me and was able to make it happen

2 Corinthians 3: 5-6  Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God. Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit; for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

(The Spirit of God speaks to us who believe and keeps us always.)

I have been selling things on eBay for about a year and enjoy it very much. I have had no problems with customers until recently when someone did not receive the item I’d sent. I apologized and reimbursed him but he still railed out at me.

Yesterday when I read Psalm 59, it caught my attention that God is our defense.

16. But I will sing of Thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of Thy mercy in the morning: for Thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.  17. Unto Thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

Defend: protection from danger, slander, criticism; justification.

I found it particularly interesting that one of the definitions was protect from criticism and also God is our justification. That comforted me.

As I was about to write this, I noticed I had a message from that person so I thought I would check it out first. He said that he would rip up my check as he had finally received the item. I was so glad and feel this issue is pretty well resolved.

Also, one of the things I’d handled wrongly in this situation had to do with me not understanding how I was supposed to reimburse the buyer, even after talking to an eBay customer service person. I prayed about it and after awhile God gave me the understanding I needed. God is faithful.

CHURCH GATHERING
IN COLORADO SPRINGS:
July 22-26, 2024

We are going to try to conduct these meetings as Paul said to do when we gather as the church:

I Corinthians 14:26  How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm (prayer), hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

I Corinthians 14:31   For ye may all prophesy (share) one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

And in the Bible, Jesus says to us:

Matthew 18:20  For where two or three are gathered together in MY name, there am I in the midst of them.
