Podcast: The gathering of the church. Paul tells us what we are to do when we meet as the church.

I Corinthians 14  Concerning the gathering of the church Paul says:

26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.

30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

(We have control over our own spirits and would not interrupt.  We share in an orderly manner, waiting our turn to share.)

33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

(When I attended the singles class at Word of Faith church, our Bible teacher never failed at some point in the class to say:  "Does anyone have a Word from the Lord.  Please share it now if so.")

I Corinthians 14  (Paul says)

34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

When God showed me I was to be a minister, I asked:  "How can I do that in view of what Paul said in I Corinthians 14:34-35?)

Immediately God said to me:  "Look at what those women were doing in that scripture."

I returned to verses 34-35 and read it.  I felt the women were out of order and were asking questions in the gathering of the church which would be out of order.

Also God took me to 3 passages of scripture in the Bible which showed women as ministers in the church:

Luke 2 ... Anna

21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of HIM to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

***

Philip the evangelist had 4 daughters who did prophesy:  Prophesy is for the church.  These daughters would have to speak in the church to do prophesy.

Acts 21

8 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

Deborah judged Israel:

Judges 4

3 And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he (the king) had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.

4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.

6 And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun? 7 And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.

8 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.

9 And she said, I will surely go with thee

These things persuaded me to do the work for which God had called me.  (Joan Boney)

CHURCH GATHERING
IN COLORADO SPRINGS:
July 22-26, 2024

We are going to try to conduct these meetings as Paul said to do when we gather as the church:

I Corinthians 14:26  How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm (prayer), hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

I Corinthians 14:31   For ye may all prophesy (share) one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

And in the Bible, Jesus says to us:

Matthew 18:20  For where two or three are gathered together in MY name, there am I in the midst of them.
