Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Even though there are things of this world that I enjoy for a time, such as working with dogs or watching football, I know they are really empty and futile.
But I rejoice in God, His Word, and what He has done, such as ...
That God chose me to be His child and gave me His Spirit. This was not of myself, but of God.
That Jesus, although tempted in every way that we are, pleased the
Father in all His ways, and overcame the world. And through Him we have
everything we need to overcome, including being given the Holy Spirit leading and guiding us by the Word.
That God is light. Because His Spirit is in me, there is light in me
even though the world is filled with darkness. And His Word shines
light on the way I am to go as I live on this earth.
That every word of God is true. It is sound, sure, and will not fall short. It will accomplish what God purposes.
That this world is not my "home". I am here only for a time. The
corrupt ways of this world are not ways I have to go, and the approval
of those of the world is not what I need to gain. The ways of God, ways
of righteousness, are the ways I want to go and am able to go, and it is the approval of
God I seek.
That God provides all my needs, cares for me, and will never forsake me.
That Jesus will return again at the end of this world for those who belong to Him so we may be with Him forever.
