Called out of darkness into light

Pam Padgett ... teacher

Proverbs 29:27 An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

While reading this, I was reminded that God has called those who belong to Him out of darkness and into His light.  Whereas we once lived unjustly and wickedly, we have been chosen by God and redeemed by the blood of Jesus.  The ways of darkness we once loved are now shameful to us, and as the light of God shines in our lives we are no longer "one" with those who go in ways of darkness.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God:which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

We have been given the Spirit of God living in us, teaching us and guiding us in the ways of God, conforming us to His image.  While the wicked embrace wickedness, we find that we are grieved and take no pleasure in it and are turned from going in the way of it  ...

Psalm 5:4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

A
nd we are abominable, the smell of death, to the wicked ....

2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. 15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

Because we have been called out of darkness into the ways of God led by His Spirit, wickedness is an abomination to us, and we are an abomination to the wicked.
