People on fire to give advice

Juliett Walton ... Member of body of Christ

Reading in Judges 9:38-40  38Then said Zebul unto him, Where is now thy mouth, wherewith thou saidst, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? is not this the people that thou hast despised? go out, I pray now, and fight with them. 39And Gaal went out before the men of Shechem, and fought with Abimelech. 40And Abimelech chased him, and he fled before him, and many were overthrown and wounded, even unto the entering of the gate.

Joan's comment  on the above scriptures is that we must be very careful about taking counsel from men for we could be deceived to destruction.

In the world today, there is much eagerness in people of the world in wanting to give counsel to or receive counsel from others. (talk shows on TV) Many people of the world set themselves up as authority figures on how to live, work, raise a family, etc. The counsel  may differ between people giving it or the counsel may change.  A simple example is that years ago there was a concern announced about eating chicken. First they said "Don't eat chicken"  Then a short time later someone told the people " it is OK to eat chicken." First tossed one way, then another.

We have a simple way to live and that is to seek God for our needs or concerns.   His answer will be exact and effective and suited to that specific person and situation.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Jeremiah 17:55Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. 6For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. 7Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
