"as strangers and pilgrims" ...
We who belong to God are strangers to this earth and the ways of this world and we are pilgrims, just waiting for the new heaven and the new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.
And as Jesus said in Jn. 18, "My kingdom is not of this world." Neither is our kingdom of this world. That concept removes a lot of pressure if you can live by it while on this earth.
