Judges 5 ...
28 The mother of Sisera looked out at a window,
and cried through the lattice,
Why is his chariot so long in coming?
why tarry the wheels of his chariots?
and cried through the lattice,
Why is his chariot so long in coming?
why tarry the wheels of his chariots?
She was worried about her son Sisera (the evil one who fought Israel) ... So she cried out "to her wise women" and her wise women answered her in their wisdom.
29 Her wise ladies answered her,
yea, she returned answer to herself,
30 Have they not sped? have they not divided the prey;
to every man a damsel or two;
to Sisera a prey of divers colours,
a prey of divers colours of needlework, of divers colours of needlework on both sides,
meet for the necks of them that take the spoil?
yea, she returned answer to herself,
30 Have they not sped? have they not divided the prey;
to every man a damsel or two;
to Sisera a prey of divers colours,
a prey of divers colours of needlework, of divers colours of needlework on both sides,
meet for the necks of them that take the spoil?
But the wisdom of her wise women was without wisdom. It was wisdom of their own minds.
Her son (Sisera, the evil one) was dead.
The wise women provided comfort to the mother and they provided false hope to the mother but soon the mother would learn the truth ... her son was dead.
But
the comfort provided by the Holy Spirit is not in vain. The wisdom we
receive from God is truly wisdom when we cry out to God.

My
next door neighbor brought forth several concepts of his own flesh,
without knowledge of the Bible, the day we met at our mail boxes. (He is an elder at his church group.)
He talked about how this nation, America, does not support Israel and if they do not change they will be destroyed.
He sees Israel by his own flesh and he sees nations of men cited in Bible by his own flesh.
I
remember what Paul said: Romans 9 ... For they are not all Israel,
which are of Israel:7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are
they all children:but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 8 That is,
They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of
God:but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
Therefore I do not see the secular nation of Israel as the Israel we see in the Bible.
To me the nation of Israel is the church, the promised seed.
==========
My
neighbor wants this world to get better. I quoted what Paul said ...
II Tim. 3 ... 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse,
deceiving, and being deceived.
It is fighting at windmills to think you will improve this world.
The Bible shows it will get worse and not better.
Jesus
says, before HE returns the following will happen: Mt. 24 ... 21 For
then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of
the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days
should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved:but for the elect's
sake those days shall be shortened.
It
will get so bad that if the time were not shortened no flesh will be
saved ... but the time will be shortened for the elect's sake.
Our
own eyes tell us the truth. Look at TV ... Is TV programming better
now (closer to the Bible, closer to the way of God) than 10 years ago? Or are they showing more sexual sins now than
ever before... both sex outside of marriage and homosexuals/sodomites
being open about their perversion and others accepting them openly and
approving their perversion.
TV reflects what is going on in real life.
Will
this nation of USA be saved? It is just a nation of men like other
nations of men.
II Peter 3 ... (That which the Bible says is ordained by God for all nations upon this entire earth.) 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
Can a man be elected president without compromising the
Bible?
I feel no hostility at all about this ... nor about political leaders.
But my hope is not in nations and governments of men. Jesus said HIS kingdom was not of this world. John 18
This world will be destroyed and there will come a new heaven and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. II Peter 3
We are simply pilgrims traveling through this land enroute to a new land. Heb. 11...13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. 15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. 16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly:wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God:for he hath prepared for them a city.
My
neighbor doesn't seem to know these truths of the Bible. But I find
that is not unusual. Often people who say, Jesus is Lord, do not know
these truths of the Bible, and they put their hope in nations of men and governments of men.
I did tell him some truths when I spoke with him.
I did tell him Jesus said HIS kingdom is not of this world ... and neither is my kingdom of this world.
I told him things would get worse not better based on what Paul said in II Tim. 3
So he heard some truth as we spoke.
What he does with that truth is up to him.
You can fight at windmills or you can follow truth and run the race correctly.
Paul
says ... I Cor. 9 ... 24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run
all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25 And
every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now
they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I
therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that
beateth the air:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into
subjection:lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I
myself should be a castaway.
I
Cor. 3 ... But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus
Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver,
precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made
manifest:for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by
fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If
any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a
reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss:but
he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
We
have to work out our own salvations ... building on truth, not on
fantasy nor on that which we want to see happen, which is often fantasy
and day dreams.
