Acts 17 ... 22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars 'hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with
this inscription, to the unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly
worship, him declare I unto you.
NASB ...22 So Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, "Men of Athens, I observe that you are very religious in all respects.
NIV ... 22 Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said:"People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious.
religious but in a superstitious way
This
is like athletes crossing themselves before they swing baseball bat ...
thinking somehow they will do well by crossing themselves ... making
religion a superstition / bad luck / good luck (but they never stop to consider all the times it doesn't work to cross themselves)
Many superstitions are in today's churches. But there is no power in such because it is not authored by God but by man.
Prove all things by the Bible (where is that in Bible?) ... and by the Holy Spirit, asking God for wisdom about what you do.
