There are two kinds of church people: the obedient and the disobedient ... those who cling to the Word of God ... those who hear the Word of God but fail to do the Word of God, eating and drinking the Word of God in an "unworthy" manner as they fail to properly apply that Word to their life.
Paul says the Wrath of God will come upon those who are disobedient.
Ephesians 5 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
The Wrath of God will come upon the children of disobedience.
I believe this means those church members who fall away from scripture will go through The Great Tribulation which is the Wrath of God.
But the children of God who obey God, following the Word of God appropriately, doing the Word of God will be taken out before the Wrath of God comes upon this earth.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede) them which are asleep (dead).

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
