Reports: Asking God for Wisdom # 6

Juliett Walton ... Member of body of Christ

When the new book came out, I had in mind to sent it to three or four people.

I prayed about this because I wanted it to be God's will and not mine.

Last night, my cousin in Louisiana came to mind. She was one of the people on that list. I was impressed to call her. I asked God if I should call then because it was going on 10 pm her time. I was still impress to call her.  I did call and she answered.

I asked how she was doing and she told me that she had to go to the doctor to get pills for her nerves.

She sounded over whelmed by circumstances.

She had someone visiting with her but was glad to talk.

As we spoke, I told her that I was going to send her a copy of the new ministry book.

I had sent her a copy of some writings from emails a few months ago. She ask me to send her more.  I put these in the mail this morning.  I was surprised when she told me that she read these and wanted more.  I gave her information about our blog but perhaps she has not tried to get it.

(Internet can seem overwhelming to certain generations.   And some people do not want to admit they don't know how to use it.)

I was reading on the blog yesterday how Joan spoke about how God watches over us like a caring father would watch over his little child...like He is watching over our shoulders at all times.

Yesterday evening while cooking dinner I ran into a little problem. I was making a spaghetti dish.  Everything was cooked together in a large sautΓ© pan on top of stove.

I had everything in the pan and had sautΓ©ed and simmered it for the time recommended so that everything was done except for one ingredient.  I had added about a pint of fresh cherry tomatoes which should have split open during the cooking process and blended in with the rest of the sauce. But they hadn’t....the skins on them either barely split open or didn’t open at all.

I was wondering how to squash open these little tomatoes.  I thought maybe I would use a small knife and try piercing each one until they were open and the juices ran out.

But the pan I was using was relatively new, very nice to use and I was afraid the knife point would scratch the surface of the pan and ruin it.

I stood there trying to think what might work when I clearly heard ... "Use a potato masher."

I knew immediately this would work and also believed it was God who said this.  So I got the potato masher out and used it.

It worked great and didn’t damage the bottom of the pan.

This reminded me of another time a few years ago when I had baked a pan of brownies.  I was trying to cut them into squares but they were sticking to the knife and it was making a mess trying to do it this way.

I stood there and said out loud to myself (or so I thought)...what could I use to do this?

I immediately heard ... "Use a pizza cutter."

I believed this was God telling me to do this.

I got the pizza cutter out and sliced through the brownies and it did such a good job!

God looking over my shoulders at what I was doing with the answers to my problems.

Helps strengthen our faith when we think back over the times God has helped us and when we read the experiences others have had where God has helped them.

Yesterday morning Joan called to ask me to put a picture on the blog.

As soon as we finished talking I got up to do this.  I've put other pictures on various blogs so this is familiar to me, and I started jumping in, thinking about where this particular picture was and how to prepare it and said out loud ... "Let's see, what do I need to do to get that picture on the blog ..."

Hearing these words come out of my mouth kind of woke me up.  I was working this out in my own thinking and not turning to God asking HIM to help me and lead me in how to do this now.

I stopped and asked God to help me get the picture prepared and put on the blog.  After praying, getting the picture ready and on the blog went very easily and quickly.

So many times when I think I know how to do something, I forget to pray until there is a problem.  Yet each time I turn to God, HE helps me, just as HE has promised.

In all thy ways acknowledge HIM, and HE shall direct thy paths.  (Prov. 3:6)

Also each time I turn to God and see how HE chooses to help me in the matter, my faith is strengthened.

I have asked God to help me turn to HIM in all my ways, even when I think I know what I'm doing ... to trust more and more in HIM, not in myself ... and was glad to have been stopped and reminded to pray about getting the picture on the blog.

Today I had to go to have blood drawn. I prayed last night and early this morning that it would be quick and easy. Last year the woman had so much trouble, she couldn't find a vein and kept poking around both my arms. Today I went in and she found the vein right away and the blood was drawn very quickly. I thank God for this answer to prayer.

This afternoon Joan called.

She had been preparing the blog message "Report: Asking God for Wisdom" and was almost finished when suddenly it all disappeared, erased.

She asked if I knew any way to get this back, but I don't.

Joan said she could start over, copying the emails to the blog and formatting them and adding scriptures.

Knowing this would be a lot of work I began praying, telling God I wished there was some way I could help Joan with this, but that I didn't see anything I could do.

Then an idea came ... I could copy the emails to the blog so they would be ready for Joan to format and add scriptures.

This was no problem for me to do, and it was a help for Joan.

Very glad to have been shown how to help by God.

Yesterday I was reminded to call the lawn man who provided service for me last year.

I had prayed about what I needed to do in this issue.

The last time the grass was cut (fall of 2017) I paid by check as I usually did.

A day or so later the lawn man called to tell me that he could not cash the check I gave him.

I immediately contacted my bank and they told me that the problem was on the lawn man's side.

I told this to the lawn man and he requested that I pay him in cash. This was no problem. He gave me my check back and I paid him in cash. However he wanted future service to be paid in cash.

In our conversation yesterday, I told him that I needed to start lawn service for this year but that I could not pay him cash but by check as I did in the past because it was easier for me. To my surprise he told me that paying by check is fine. We set a date to start the service.

I am grateful to God that this matter is settled and that I do not have to go though the process of selecting another lawn service provider.

This evening I wanted to have some left-over rice as part of my dinner. It was plain rice and I wanted to put something on it for extra flavor and to add a little moisture, but didn't know what to use that wouldn't be too "heavy".   I had no idea what might work.

I was talking with God about this when the thought came to put some soy sauce on the rice.

Perfect!

This perfectly suited my taste tonight, was so simple, and no mess or time to prepare.

I smile each time I think of God helping me in this.
